International Grade Comparisons

UK NARIC are delighted to announce that we are able to compare grades achieved internationally against A Levels and Bachelor degrees. New data is now available for 40 countries.

The International Grade Comparisons database is designed to enable employers, professional bodies, universities and colleges to identify the brightest and best individuals from across the globe.

Using established methodologies, UK NARIC are able to compare grades achieved internationally against A Levels and Bachelor degrees.

The International Grade Comparisons database will help you:

  • Identify individuals achieving the higher grades in A Levels and Bachelor level degrees from over 40 of the key feeder countries to UK
  • Understand more about the complex grading systems used across the world
  • Improve consistency of decision making when assessing candidates from the UK and overseas
  • Identify recognised higher education institutions in over 190 countries through access to the complementary database International Comparisons
  • Identify and assess talent and recruit globally.

The countries covered by the International Grade Comparisons database are:

Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, UAE and USA.

The new database has been developed through working closely with a select group of stakeholders during the past year and builds on the work started in 2008 which covered just the Bologna countries. The database examines different grading systems in order to determine how grades from one system can be compared and converted to those from another, complimenting the UK NARIC primary database International Comparisons and taking the level of data available to members to a new dimension.

UK NARIC are delighted to be able to offer International Grade Comparisons to its members, as feedback suggests that many members have been looking for this type of dataset. Initial feedback from focus groups is very encouraging and over time UK NARIC plan to develop the database further through increasing the number of countries included.

“Comparing grades is a very difficult exercise and there is no perfect method for being able to do this. Using grade distribution and the UK NARIC expertise has enabled us to develop this unique database, and this will really help organisations to admit and recruit the brightest and best individuals that hold qualifications from outside the UK.”   said Ian Bassett, Commercial Director, UK NARIC.

More information about International Grade Comparisons can be found on the UK NARIC website.
