1. How do I apply for a Statement of Comparability or English Language Assessment?

2. What is the difference between a Statement of Comparability and English Language
The UK NARIC
Statement of Comparability is an officially recognised document that
confirms the recognition of an overseas qualification and its comparable level in
the UK, irrespective of it being an academic, vocational or professional award.
It does not contain any information on the medium of instruction.
The English Language Assessment assesses whether an individual's English language
proficiency is equivalent to CEFR level A1, B1, B2 or C1, based on completion of an English language
test or academic qualifications taught in English. This service comments only on
English proficiency and does not include information on the comparable level of
3. How do I apply for the Fast Track Service?
UK NARIC offers a Fast Track service
for Statements of Comparability and/or
English Language Assessments.
This is a premium service for individuals or companies who need a UK NARIC statement in 24 or 48 hours.
To process your application, we need the following:
– a photocopy or scanned version of your certificate(s)
together with final transcript(s)
– a photocopy or scanned version of a certified translation in English if necessary – this
is NOT required if your certificate is in
Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Danish, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Italian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish,
(these are our Translation Waiver service languages – this service is included and
built in to Fast Track at no extra charge)
– for English Language Assessments, evidence of the medium of instruction of your degree from the university’s
central administration unit / registry OR a photocopy or scanned version of your English test certificate(s)
(here is an example of a Medium of Instruction letter)
– if applying by post, you must provide a covering letter with your contact details, stating that you
wish to apply for the Fast Track service and specifying the 24-hour or 48-hour service.

Delivery charges are all included in the Fast Track service.
Payment for the Fast Track Service is only accepted by debit/credit card or postal order.
Once we receive all the required documents from you, a checking procedure is carried out by an Information
Officer, and we will contact you within 24 working hours to inform you if we are able to proceed with your
application as a Fast Track service.
The 24/48 hour period does not include delivery time and starts when all documentation (including payment)
is received and has been checked and approved by an Information Officer.
4. How many qualifications can I submit?
A Statement of Comparability can contain several qualifications and you may submit
as many relevant, completed qualifications as you hold as part of one application.
UK NARIC charges per Statement, not per qualification.
5. How much does it cost and how long does it take?

6. I do not want to pay online, what are the other payment options?

7. What documents should I send?
For the Statement of Comparability you need to submit a photocopy or scanned version of your
final certificate / diploma and transcripts (mark sheets) for each qualification
you wish to have assessed.
For the English Language Assessment you need to submit a photocopy or scanned version of your
final certificate / diploma, transcripts (mark sheets), and a letter from the institution
where you studied, confirming that your qualification was taught in English. If
these are not in English, you will also need to submit a photocopy or scanned version of a certified
For the Career Path Report you need to submit a photocopy or scanned version of your final certificate
/ diploma and transcripts (mark sheets). If these are not in English, you will also
need to submit a photocopy or scanned version of a certified English translation. Please note we do
not accept original documentation.
8. What is a final certificate?
The final certificate tends to be an elaborate document awarded by your institution
or a relevant authority and is presented to you, usually at a graduation ceremony,
following the completion of your course.
9. What is a certified translation?
If your documents are not in English, and you do not wish to, or are not eligible
to, use our Translation Waiver Service, you will need to submit a photocopy of a
certified English translation of your documents. A certified translation must be
completed by a qualified translator. They would need to sign or stamp the translation
and add a declaration to state that they have completed a true and accurate translation
of the original document.
Please note that if you apply for the Statement of Comparability with Translation
Waiver Scheme you will NOT receive an English translation of the documentation submitted.
10. Can I email the required documents?
Yes, during the online application process, you will be given the opportunity to upload scanned copies of documents electronically. You can also log back into your account after your application has been submitted to upload further documents if necessary.

11. I have changed my name. Do I need to send proof of the name change?
If your surname has changed through marriage then it is not necessary to submit
a copy of your marriage certificate to demonstrate the change of name. Please make
your application to UK NARIC using your married name, and submit your documentation
in your maiden name.
If your name has changed for any other reason, please submit a copy of the document,
for example a deed poll, which shows this change of name.
12. How will I receive my assessment?
UK NARIC offer the following postage options:
- First class post £1.50
- Royal Mail Signed For™ £3.50
- Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed™ £8.00
- Standard Airmail £3.50
- International Signed For™ £8.00
- DHL Courier Service £80.00
These will be available for you to select during the check-out process.
13. How can I add qualifications to my assessment? Do I have to pay more fees?
If you submit additional qualification(s) within three months of the initial completion of
your assessment, we will charge £12.00 + VAT* (£14.40) plus your chosen delivery fee to add
these to your Statement of Comparability, provided they have been issued in English, or you are
going to enclose a certified English translation when submitting the new qualification(s). Certified
English translations are not required where you have previously paid for the Statement of Comparability
with Translation Waiver Service.
If your request is received three months after the original assessment has been sent, you will
need to upload a scanned copy (or submit a photocopy via post) of the relevant qualification(s) to UK
NARIC, with the appropriate fee. If the documentation is in English, or you are also submitting a copy
of a certified English translation, then the required fee is £46.00 + VAT* (£55.20) plus your chosen delivery
fee. If the documentation is in one of the languages included in our Translation Waiver Service then the
required fee is £76.00 + VAT* (£91.20) plus your chosen delivery fee.
Please submit the required documentation to UK NARIC either online within the User Portal, or by post, stating your enquiry ID number and which service you now require.
Payment can be made either by cheque or postal order, made payable to ECCTIS LIMITED, when submitting the documentation or by telephone using a credit or debit card once all the required documentation has been submitted.
*If you are applying from an address outside of the EU, you are not required to pay VAT.
14. What is the Certificate of Comparability?
This is an additional document which confers no greater authority than the Statement
of Comparability already received. Nor does it contain any additional information.
It is the same information, in a different format that is designed solely for framing
and displaying should you wish to do so. Please note that each Certificate can only
contain one qualification and any additional information that is included on your
Statement of Comparability will not be included on the Certificate.
15. What is a Medium of Instruction letter?
A Medium of Instruction letter is a document that confirms the language of instruction used throughout your degree programme.
It should be issued by a central administration unit / the registry at your university rather than a lecturer
who may have taught you. Typically, they look like this
16. Will I be able to speak to someone in my language?
Please note that if you apply for our
Translation Waiver Service there is no guarantee
that you will be able to speak to someone in your language about your application. The same
also applies to any other queries you may have.
